My final week!

A trap site in Boxborough, MA

Reflecting on my summer with the CMMCP

It's hard to believe it's my last week of work, the summer has sped right by. I now know more about mosquitos than I ever thought I would. I also understand better what happens behind the scenes in vector-borne disease surveillance. I also somewhat know my way around a very specific set of towns in suburban Massachusetts!

I am grateful for the chances I got to learn new skills that weren't in my job description. I could've very easily done nothing but drive and trap, but I am glad I got the chance to learn mosquito ID, refresh my lab skills, and hear more about the implications of each species of mosquito. This job has given me some valuable transferrable skills, and I am satisfied with my decision to work here this summer. I am likely going to pursue a slightly different, but adjacent field in the future and I am glad to have had this foundation.

With all that said, I am glad I had this opportunity, overall this was a good and busy summer!
